About Will

Photo of Will Mooney. Better headshot coming soon.

Will has deep roots in Newark through family connections and has proudly called the city home for the past three years. His wife, Annia, is a Newark native whose father served as the assistant fire chief, creating a personal connection to the city's emergency services and their important history. Her father's turnout gear and a Newark Fire Department backboard are displayed proudly in their home as reminders of the city's rich history of public service.

As a professional software developer with 13 years of industry experience, Will brings a unique technical perspective to city governance. His technology journey began 23 years ago when he first learned to code and rebuild computers, skills that evolved into a successful career solving complex problems and building efficient systems.

Will's education includes a Bachelor of Arts from Hiram College and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, providing him with both a well-rounded liberal arts foundation and advanced technical expertise. This educational background, combined with his family ties to Newark's emergency services, gives him a unique perspective on the challenges facing Ward 4. He understands both the technological opportunities for modernizing city operations and the human impact of public safety decisions on families and neighborhoods.

When not working or campaigning, Will enjoys hiking local trails, expanding his knowledge through reading, and spending time with his family.
